Sketch

Once we have a clear understanding of your vision, our talented designers create detailed sketches of your custom piece. These sketches are the first tangible step in bringing your idea to life. We ensure every element aligns with your expectations, and we’re happy to make revisions based on your feedback. This stage is crucial for visualizing the design and making any necessary adjustments.

CAD Rendering

After finalizing the sketch, we move to the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) stage. Using advanced CAD software, we develop a precise 3D model of your jewelry. This digital representation provides a realistic view of the piece from all angles, allowing you to see how it will look once completed. The CAD rendering ensures accuracy in design and helps us refine the finer details before moving forward.

Wax Model

To give you a tangible sense of the design, we create a wax model of your piece. This step allows you to see and feel the dimensions and proportions in real life. The wax model serves as a prototype, enabling us to make any final adjustments before the actual crafting begins. Your approval at this stage is essential to proceed to the next step.

FAQ's

How does the custom jewellery design process work at JB Simpson?

Our custom jewellery design process is illustrated step-by-step on our site. It begins with a consultation, followed by sketches, CAD renderings, wax models, and finally, the creation of your unique piece.

Can I redesign an existing piece of jewellery, like a ring or pendant?

One of the most common questions we get asked actually!  Yes, we can remodel your old rings, pendants, necklaces, earrings etc. in to a new one of a kind piece...just for you! Styles change over the years, but the wonderful thing with jewellery is it can be recycled! Book an appointment today. Send us a picture of a piece you've always dreamed of having and we can give you a quote to design it.

Is it possible to use my existing diamonds or colored gems in a new design?

Old gems and diamonds can eventually get worn down, scratched or even chipped. No worries, we can have your crown jewels re-cut or polished to their original beauty... like they were brand new! Ask Joel or Jason for an estimate.

Can I reuse my old gold to create a new piece of jewellery?

We can easily remelt existing yellow gold rings, chains, bracelets etc. including old relics, broken items or single earrings! We can remove any old diamonds our gems and return them to you for a future project.

Can you change the color of my gold jewellery from yellow to white or rose gold?

While we can’t directly change the color of gold, we can refine your existing gold back to its pure state and credit its value towards a new piece in your preferred gold color, such as white or rose gold.
